At the launch of Fatima da Silva Gracias' 'Cozinha de Goa' book, released at Sunaparanta, Altinho, Goa, on March 29, 2011. The book talks about the history of Goan cuisine, and traces its links across the globe, and across time.
An introduction by author-sociologist Savia Viegas of her now quickly-going-out-of-print novel set in Goa, Tales from the Attic. The story about the novel even has a dramatic note to it (specially, about how it got self-published and sold).

Savia Viegas author, academic and painter relocated to Goa from Mumbai in 2005. Since then she has published two books Tales from the Attic (2007) and Let me tell you about Quinta Penguin (2011). In a bold and daring manner she self-published her first book and sold it on the beach, in trains and at conference venues. The book has been well-acclaimed across the state. She narrates her experiences as the State turns 50
Savia Viegas is Senior Fulbright fellow 2004. On her return fron the United States, she relocated to Goa and began living in her family home in Camona. Despite what the tourist books may say, some of Goa's village have not modernised to support family and community life, she felt. You many have many bars and shacks in each village but there are no support systems for educational growth of young children. She thought it was plough-back time and began to contribute in the way she could. Listen to her positive story.
Everyone Laments that Goa has been destroyed. Well we have had some wrong policies in place. It is time to change that and try to bring about change in a small way in your own village.
